Mosaic of 09/28/1999 images

Figure 2: Images from September 28, 1997. These partially reduced images in [S II] 6731Å plainly show the changes in the torus over the night. The images are oriented such that Jovian north is up and the east (approaching) side of the torus is on the left. The opaque rectangle appearing in each images is a moon mask. Fullsized versions of the reduced graphic above are available in JPEG format here and PostScript here; in these, the time of observation (UT) appears in the lower left corner of each image and the System III CML in the lower right. See video 1 for an animation of these images.
